Arlington resident/Harvard Vanguard physician is honored by Middlesex District Medical Society as 2007 Community Clinician of the Year

Somerville, MA - Carole E. Allen, M.D., an Arlington resident and physician at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Somerville has been honored as 2007 Community Clinician of the Year by physicians of the Middlesex District Medical Society, one of 20 district medical societies that comprise the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Allen was also elected to a two-year term as Vice President of the Middlesex District Medical Society at their April 14th meeting.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community. Honorees are selected by their fellow district society members.

The Middlesex district has 1,900 members. Middlesex district includes Allston/Brighton, Arlington, Belmont, Burlington, Cambridge, Charlestown, Everett, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Wilmington, Woburn, Reading, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield, Watertown and Winchester.

A graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Allen is a board-certified pediatrician. Currently a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society's House of Delegates, the Society's governing body, she has also served the state organization as a member of its Student Health and Sports Medicine Committee and its Interspecialty Committee. Dr. Allen currently practices pediatrics at the Somerville Harvard Vanguard site and has over 25 years previous practice experience. She is the specialty director of pediatrics for Harvard Vanguard.

Dr. Allen has been previously honored by the American Academy of Pediatrics with its Special Achievement Award in 2000 and 2001; by the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards with its Paul Revere Award in 2002; by Children Hospital with its Community Pediatrician Award in 2002; and by the American Academy of Pediatrics Massachusetts Chapter with its Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
