Atrius Health Announces New Vice President of Quality and Safety
Atrius Health, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas D. Denberg, MD, PhD, FACP to the role of Vice President of Quality and Safety. Atrius Health is an alliance of five nonprofit multi-specialty medical groups, Dedham Medical Associates, Granite Medical, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, South Shore Medical Center and Southboro Medical Group, with practice sites throughout eastern Massachusetts. Dr. Denberg will also serve as Vice President for Quality and Safety for Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in his new role.
Dr. Denberg most recently served as the Medical Director in the Center for Health Promotion at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. There, he established and directed an innovative program for the University of Colorado Hospital involving an evidence-based patient reminder-recall program for preventive care and chronic disease management services in an ambulatory setting.
In addition to his role as Medical Director, Dr. Denberg also served as the Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
In his previous positions, Dr. Denberg was the director of the University of Colorado’s Hospital Quality Improvement Grants Program and Internal Medicine Primary Care Residency Research Program. He also served as the lead consultant to design and implement population-based prevention, wellness and chronic disease programs for University employees as part of the University's transition to self-insurance.
Dr. Denberg received a B.A. from Reed College in Portland, OR and an MD in internal medicine and PhD from the University of Illinois School of Medicine. He completed his residency program in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and his fellowship program in health services/outcomes research and general internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He has published numerous articles related to evidence-based and patient-centered medicine, practice redesign, and clinical quality improvement.
