Harvard Vanguard Physician Receives Community Clinician of the Year Award

Harvard Vanguard physician, Dr. Francis X. Campion, has been named Community Clinician of the Year by the Norfolk District Medical Society of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the statewide professional association of physicians.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize annually a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies. The Norfolk District has some 2,700 physician members. The award recipients are those physicians who have made significant contributions to patients and the community. The award for Dr. Campion was presented April 26 at the annual meeting of the district society.

Dr. Campion is director of Clinical Informatics at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (HVMA) and Health One Care System. As a member of the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School, he also participates in research activities to improve physician practices through information systems technology. Board-certified in internal medicine, he continues his clinical practice at HVMA's Kenmore center half time.

A 1987 graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Campion is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medicine Examiners.

Among numerous professional activities, Dr. Campion is also active with the Massachusetts Medical Society as a member of its House of Delegates and IT Clinical Advisory Committee, and its committees on Quality of Medical Practice, Information Technology, and Telemedicine.

Dr. Campion's previous honors include the Physician of the Year Award in 2002 from the Massachusetts Home Care Association and the Senior Resident Award from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester, N.H. in 1990.
