New Weight Management Program Available at Harvard Vanguard Kenmore Practice
Newton, MA - Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a multi-specialty physician practice with practices across eastern Massachusetts and an affiliate of Atrius Health, is now offering The HMR Program for Weight Management™, a state-of-the-art weight loss program appropriate for adults who want to lose anywhere from 10-200 pounds. The medically supervised program promotes rapid weight loss to combat obesity and reduce associated health risks including heart disease, hypertension, arthritis, high cholesterol and diabetes. This program is open to the general public and is based at Harvard Vanguard’s Kenmore office.
The HMR® Program offers an easy-to-follow diet that emphasizes healthy eating habits and fast, long-lasting weight loss. The program includes intensive lifestyle education and personalized attention combined with prepared meal replacements (weight-loss shakes, entrees, soup, and nutrition bars), meal plans that include fresh fruits and vegetables, group support, and nutrition counseling. There is both a clinic-based program that includes weekly group classes, and a home-based option for patients who travel a lot or do not require a more medically supervised plan.
As part of the clinic-based HMR Program, Harvard Vanguard will hold weekly support classes offering strategies for lowering fat and calorie intake and adding physical activity and more fruits and vegetables into the daily routine. Participants keep simple records and create weekly goals and learn to manage their weight within a structure of personal accountability. After the weight-loss phase, participants attend weekly group classes where they continue to receive support while practicing simple strategies for successful long-term weight management.
Dr. James Roseto, MD, Internal Medicine and Director of the HMR Program at Kenmore, will oversee the clinical aspects of the program on behalf of Harvard Vanguard.
“We are pleased to be offering the HMR Program for Weight Management in Kenmore as another option to help patients lose weight and keep it off,” says Dr Roseto. “This evidence-based program can help our patients live healthier and reduce the risk of, or even prevent, chronic illnesses associated with obesity.”
The program was developed by HMR (Health Management Resources) the nation’s leading provider of weight treatment services to the medical community. Created by physicians and other healthcare professionals, and backed by extensive scientific data, HMR Programs are widely recognized for their successful outcomes.
