Dr. James Pert of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Medford Receives Community Pediatrician Award from Children's Hospital

Medford, MA - (July 1, 2009) - Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a multi-specialty physician practice with offices across eastern Massachusetts and an affiliate of Atrius Health, is pleased to announce that Stoneham resident Dr. James Pert has received the Community Pediatrician Award from Children’s Hospital Boston.

Nominated by their peers, Children's Community Pediatrician Award honorees are pediatricians that best represent the level of personalized and quality care provided at private pediatric practices and community health centers throughout the greater Boston area.

Dr. Pert was recognized at a ceremony that took place at Children's Hospital for his contributions as a hospitalist and his instrumental role in the establishment of the Harvard Vanguard pediatric telecommunications center to provide after-hours telephone triage to patients in need of medical guidance.

Dr. Pert joined Harvard Vanguard in 1985 and became chief of the pediatrics telecommunications center in 1992. In January of this year, he assumed additional responsibility as chief of the adult medicine telecommunications center.

Prior to joining Harvard Vanguard, Dr. Pert completed a fellowship in pediatric psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Boston. He was also a hospitalist and practiced at Newington Children’s Hospital in Connecticut. Dr. Pert received his undergraduate degree from Williams College, his medical degree from Albany Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Pert is currently accepting new patients and is affiliated with Children’s Hospital Boston and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The Medford practice of Harvard Vanguard is located at 26 City Hall Mall (781-306-5100) and is currently accepting new patients in adult and pediatric primary care.
