How Do We Measure Up?
Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) has released a public report in which it finds that primary care physicians in Massachusetts medical groups provide some of the highest quality care in the nation. In fact, Massachusetts physicians scored significantly above the national average in two-thirds of the quality measures covered in the report.
This report, entitled Quality Insights Clinical Quality in Primary Care marks the first time that clinical performance measures are publicly available at the medical group level. It's available on MHQP’s website, and it gives consumers access to highly reliable quality data along with the tools to quickly and easily access and analyze that data.
Where Does Harvard Vanguard Stack Up?
In clinical quality measures, our ratings are excellent. Nearly all of our practices received four stars the highest ratings.
And while our scores indicate that we are doing a lot of things right, our focus is to continue to improve.
The report is the most unbiased, reliable public source for this kind of data because it is developed by an independent, non-profit organization, which collaborates closely with physicians, health plans, consumer advocate groups and other health care leaders. This collaborative approach is a national model for reporting on quality of care.
MHQP hopes consumers will use the information in this report to begin discussions with their doctors about appropriate care including what they themselves can do to remain healthy.
We are pleased that the MHQP is conducting these surveys and releasing this data. It is good information and it will help all of us provide higher quality care.
