Harvard Vanguard program “Living with Diabetes” recognized by American Diabetes Association

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates is pleased to announce that the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently recognized Harvard Vanguard's Chelmsford, Kenmore, and Medford offices for their Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program.

The program, called "Living with Diabetes," which is based upon The National Standard for Diabetes Self-Management Education, aims to teach people with diabetes all that they need to know to manage their diabetes and to help them develop a care plan for life.

The Chelmsford, Kenmore, and Medford practices join Harvard Vanguard’s practices in Braintree, Peabody, and Wellesley that are already recognized by the ADA for their DSME program.  These practices offer several diabetes management classes focused on particular aspects of managing diabetes, such as managing blood glucose and healthy eating.

To be recognized by the ADA, Harvard Vanguard has taken a very comprehensive and rigorous approach to the care of our patients with diabetes through the DSME program, creating an organizational structure with a clear mission statement, advisory board and coordinator. Instructors are specially trained to teach people with diabetes, and effectiveness of the program is measured to identify opportunities for improvement.
