New Quality Scores Show Harvard Vanguard
Among Nation's Best
The Massachusetts Health Quality Partnership (MHQP) release of quality data for physician practices is part of an important national effort to provide patients with more information about quality and safety in medicine. Harvard Vanguard physicians and nurses have been in the forefront of this work for over 30 years.
Harvard Vanguard physicians received MHQP's highest rating of 3 stars,
on 12 of 16 measures, and was ranked first on seven of the sixteen.
Harvard Vanguard doctors' success in maintaining top scores, and
improving them, is due to a long tradition of emphasizing prevention,
care of chronic disease, and use of leading edge technology. This technology,
including state-of-the-art computerized medical records, allows Harvard
Vanguard doctors to reach out to patients needing cancer screening,
identify patients with chronic disease who have not had recommended
tests, and to review any aspects of a patient's record with the click
of a mouse.
In addition to the computerized record, Harvard Vanguard physicians and nurses have introduced systems through which at-risk patients are contacted by their doctor when they have missed important tests or follow-up visits. And our physicians have plans underway to accelerate quality improvement and support patients' own role in improving their health.
