Harvard Vanguard Receives Business Leadership Award
Jewish Vocational Service has honored Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates with a "Business Leadership" award for its contributions to workforce development.
The award was received at the annual Spring Gala on June 8th. Proceeds from the event, titled "The Many Faces of JVS," will support career advancement services and skills training programs such as English language classes, job placement assistance, and long-term support. As a result, JVS clients learn valuable skills, find jobs with benefits and ultimately provide better for their families
JVS also honored Janice Payton-Harris, a Team Leader in the urology department at Harvard Vanguard as one of five exceptional JVS clients who have overcome considerable obstacles and achieved great success in their careers.
Over the past three years, Harvard Vanguard has collaborated with JVS on several workforce development initiatives through funding JVS received from the Commonwealth Corporation. The initiatives include college preparation classes and one-on-one career coaching. Since May 2005, nearly 50 employees have taken advantage of JVS’ career coaching services, 15 have completed a pre-college skills readiness class, and 14 have enrolled in the second cycle of the class. To date, 11 participating employees were promoted to new positions.
