Quality & Safety

Partnership for Patients - Healthcare.gov. Proud to be Partners in Better Care at Lower Costs Harvard Vanguard is committed to partnering with our patients to provide high quality patient care in a safe and pleasant environment.  One way of achieving high quality patient care is through the use of evidence-based medicine.  Evidence-based medicine refers to the latest medical knowledge derived from rigorously-designed clinical trials.  Our medical providers strive to apply evidence-based medicine to the care of their patients, keeping informed of the latest developments in health care through programs in continuing medical education.

At Harvard Vanguard, data and analytical support services allow us to continuously review our data and measure our performance in order to improve the way we deliver care.  For example, we know from research studies that cancer screening at regular intervals can lead to better outcomes for patients.  To help our patients stay healthy, we use our reporting capability to remind patients to complete these important screenings.  Similarly, we provide patients with chronic conditions like diabetes a regular “report card” that lists their current values on key tests, and also indicates when they are due for follow-up visits and tests.

When compared with other large provider organizations, Harvard Vanguard’s quality scores rank highly.  For example, Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP), an independent, non-profit organization that collects and publicly reports on health system performance, has for years identified Harvard Vanguard as a clear and consistent leader in patient satisfaction and quality of care.
