Welcome to Family Medicine at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, where our family practitioners provide care for all members of your family, as they grow from newborns to seniors. Our family medicine team, comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses, is focused on the total health care of you and your family. The Family Medicine Department is located on the 2nd floor of our Braintree practice location and is currently accepting new patients.
What is Family Medicine?
Family Medicine is another option for receiving primary care - providing continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and the family; serving male and female patients of all ages in all stages of life. A Family Medicine practice focuses on preventive care such as routine check ups, health-risk assessments, immunization and screening tests, managing chronic illness; and long-term physician-patient relationships. Through these long-term relationships, family practitioners come to know the entire medical history of patients, thereby being able to better recommend necessary treatments and coordinate care accordingly.
Family practitioners complete advanced training in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and other specialties so they can diagnose and treat a wide variety of acute and chronic ailments in patients of all ages. Unlike other specialties that are more limited in scope, family medicine integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral components.
