February: Go Red for Women Month

The American Heart Association (AHA) designated February as "Go Red For Women" month, to bring awareness and generate support in the fight against heart disease in women. According to the AHA, heart disease is the number one killer of women and more women die of cardiovascular disease than the next five causes of death combined.

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates encourages you to take preventive steps to keep your heart healthy. Take the "Go Red Heart CheckUp" today by visiting www.goredforwomen.org. It is important to "know your numbers" (cholesterol and triglyceride levels, blood pressure and more), as they are an important part of heart-health and can be indicators of your risk for heart problems. Knowing your numbers can also help you keep track of progress you are making as you work towards a healthier lifestyle.
