Developmental Consultation Service

The Developmental Consultation Service (DCS) is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to promoting the health, abilities and achievement of children with, or at risk for, chronic physical and/or developmental concerns. We address questions about diagnostic implications, medical case management and coordination of care for children until age 22. The following disciplines are included: developmental pediatrician, social worker, pediatric physical therapist, speech-language pathologist, child psychologist, child psychiatrist and nutritionist.

The DCS also includes a specialty team of clinicians who assess children with socialization and/or communication delays. Some of these children may have one of the pervasive developmental disorders, including Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), autism or Asperger Syndrome. The team addresses diagnostic questions and treatment planning, as well as consultation regarding specific medical, behavioral, psychopharmacologic and developmental concerns.

Through periodic consultation and help with coordination of care, we assist and support families and health care providers in advocating effectively for children whose needs extend beyond the health care system into the home and community. See our office information for hours, directions or contact information.
