What is Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics?
Developmental and behavioral pediatricians have the training and experience to assess and treat a wide range of the medical and psychosocial aspects of a child’s developmental and behavioral difficulties, providing the appropriate medical diagnosis to help parents access the necessary specialists and school- and community-based resources that will improve their child’s quality of life.
Although children do develop skills at different rates, there are general expected developmental and behavioral “milestones.” In the case where a child may have delays or difficulties in one or more areas of speech and language, motor skills, learning, behavior, or social interactions, an evaluation by one of our developmental and behavioral pediatricians may be warranted.
Our developmental and behavioral pediatricians practice out of our Braintree, Burlington, Kenmore, Quincy, Somerville, Wellesley and West Roxbury offices.
Some of the conditions our developmental and behavioral pediatricians diagnose or assist in the diagnosis of are:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorders including Asperger’s Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS)
- Behavior Disorders
- Developmental Delay
- Intellectual Disabilities
- Learning Disabilities
- Language Delay and Disorders
