How to Choose a Specialist
Harvard Vanguard offers more than 35 medical and surgical specialties to meet your health care needs. And hundreds of specialists to select from. Here are some suggestions to make your selection easier:
Ask your primary care physician
We recommend that you discuss your need for specialty care with your primary care physician. He or she will be able to recommend some specialists to you and can follow up with your specialist to discuss treatment plans. Your primary care team and specialists consult with each other — and with you — to determine how each treatment and health care decision will affect your overall health.
Do a little research
You can search by location through the hundreds of specialists we offer to see a list of those who practice at an office near you.
Pick a doctor you're comfortable with
If there are certain criteria that are important to you, such as languages spoken or hospital affiliates, perform an advanced search.
