We are pleased that you’ve considered Harvard Vanguard for your medical care. Our independent group of doctors and their care teams are focused on providing you with high quality health care.
With a focus on prevention, Harvard Vanguard's outstanding physicians, nurses, physician assistants and medical teams work together in internal medicine, pediatrics and more than 35 specialties to effectively coordinate our patients' care. All providers are linked by a state-of-the-art electronic medical record system.
Most of our convenient locations feature radiology, laboratory and pharmacy services on-site and offer evening and weekend urgent care hours. For those times when hospital services are required, our providers are affiliated with leading teaching and community hospitals.
New Patients
Call our Central Registration department if you are interested in becoming a patient of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. We can be reached at 1-800-249-1767 Monday through Friday from 7:30am-7:30pm. Our staff are available to assist you with the registration process. A Team Approach
At Harvard Vanguard, we employ a team approach to healthcare. This means you will have access to a wide array of physicians and other experienced healthcare professionals - all dedicated to improving your health and managing your wellness. Your primary care physician leads this team that includes physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and medical assistants who assist in providing and effectively coordinating your care. We encourage you to call us promptly whenever you have a concern about your health.
We look forward to working with you to achieve your long-term health goals, as well as meet your current medical needs. We believe you will find that taking an active role in your healthcare will be a positive and empowering experience.
You and Your Primary Care Physician: Managing Your Wellness
If you have not already done so, we encourage you to select a primary care physician and schedule an appointment. Our primary care physicians like to meet their new patients in person — this gives them a chance to get to know you and your medical history.
Together you and your primary care physician can begin building a relationship to support your good health. Your primary care physician, working with a team of medical professionals, will handle your regular checkups, provide care when you are sick, help coordinate your specialty medical care and look after your overall health.
Specialty Care
In most cases your primary care team will provide you with the health services you need. But there may be times when you need to see a specialist. In addition to primary care for adults and children, as well as obstetrics and gynecology, we offer more than 35 medical and surgical specialties to meet your health care needs.
We recommend that you discuss your need for specialty care with your primary care physician. He or she will be able to recommend some specialists to you and can follow up with your specialist to help effectively coordinate your care.
At Harvard Vanguard, your primary care team and specialists consult with each other — and with you — to determine how each treatment and health care decision will affect your overall health. Within Harvard Vanguard, your health care team utilizes an electronic medical record, ensuring your primary care team and specialists are looking at the same information about your medical history and current medical issues.
Weekend and Holiday Care
Several Harvard Vanguard offices are available for adult and pediatric urgent care on weekends and holidays. To make an urgent care appointment on a weekend or holiday, call your doctor's office. If your doctor's office does not offer weekend and holiday hours, your call will be automatically directed to one of our practices that does.
After Hours Medical Advice
Medical advice is available by telephone 24 hours a day by calling your doctor's office. After hours, a team of Harvard Vanguard medical staff answers calls to provide medical advice and information. With access to our electronic medical record (EMR) system, you can be sure that your most recent medical information has been referenced in the advice or information that you receive.
Emergencies
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. If you receive care at an emergency room, please call your primary care physician's office on the next business day so we can follow up on your care.
