In some instances, specific equipment and specialized nursing care may not be available in the ObGyn office for certain procedures. In many cases, our Special Procedures Unit can offer the state-of-the-art tools needed along with pre- and post-procedure care, potentially eliminating the need for a hospital visit. Essentially, our Special Procedures Unit is a place where smaller surgeries are performed in a non-hospital setting.
Sterilization Procedures Available Through Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates
The Essure sterilization procedure is available through Harvard Vanguard.
Essure is a unique hysteroscopically delivered tubal occlusion device that achieves permanent contraception without the need for a hospital procedure. The device consists of a flexible coil measuring 4 centimeters in length which is inserted into the fallopian tubes in an office setting.
- It is now available to all women who have made the choice for sterilization.
- The effectiveness of this method is 99.8% at three years.
